During the past two days, I have received notices of failed subscription requests from THEMAIL.COM for a list called ACMET-L. As of this time, no one with a THEMAIL.COM address has managed to subscribe to that list, but they keep trying. All the subscription requests contain the same syntax error, but are from different email addresses at THEMAIL.COM. I have not notified the owner of this list of this situation because I do not want to alarm him if my concerns are unwarranted. This subscription activity got my attention because all the email addresses that are generating these requests have exceeded their mail quota so I am getting the resulting error messages. This looks to me like a possible failed attempt at spamming. It happened again this morning. I notified [log in to unmask] about this situation late yesterday morning, but I only received an automated response. Have anyone else seen this type of activity lately? Here's a record of this activity from my Listserv's current log file: 17 Feb 2000 01:49:01 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 03:46:54 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 03:53:46 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 03:55:56 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 03:58:37 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:06:10 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:16:03 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:20:54 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:25:56 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:33:44 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 04:38:50 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 05:07:31 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 07:10:05 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 07:37:59 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 07:50:09 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l 17 Feb 2000 08:30:51 From [log in to unmask]: subscribe acmet-l
