Hello everyone. I have a question that is driving me nuts... I am trying to configure listserv on a Solaris box to work with qmail. Here is what I've tried so far: ------------------------------------------------- etting listserv to talk to qmail: from the lsoft listserv archives: ------------------------------------------ ---------------- Don't bother using LISTSERV's makefile for managing your aliases (not even if you use Sendmail -- it's easier to handle with an editor). On qmail, just put lsv_amin into .qmail-default so that *all* mail not for a specific user of the system goes to LISTSERV. That way you don't have to deal with aliases at all -- if you make a new list, it is online immediately. This also means that the probe feature will work. i.e. the contents of .qmail_default: |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/lsv_amin -t "$LOCAL" You will also need to put into ~listserv/.qmail: |/var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/lsv_amin -t listserv That's it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- I did exactly that (but changing directory names to match our system. But it seems that listserv still was not delivering mail. I noticed I had build up of automatically generated mail messages in the spool. So I stopped and restarted listserv to see if that would clear the problem (grabbing at straws...). Anyway, I got the following message when I restarted: -------------------- from the terminal -------------------------------- logserver1.exodus.tms.trb% ./go 5 Oct 2000 15:15:19 LISTSERV(R) for unix version 1.8d starting... 5 Oct 2000 15:15:19 Copyright L-Soft international 1986-2000 5 Oct 2000 15:15:19 Requeuing 117 mail files for delivery... 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 >>> Error X'00B00433' enqueuing mail for delivery <<< 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Severity: Error 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Facility: POSIX/unix error codes 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Abstract: Unspecified error (134) - See errno.h 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> strerror: Transport endpoint is not connected 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> 117 mail files left unprocessed. 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 SIGNUP files are being compressed... 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> No entry removed. 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 Nearest backbone host is [log in to unmask] 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 Nearest NJE host is LISTSERV@CUNYVM 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 Building list indexes... 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 License activated: SERIAL=TRIBUNEMEDIA-1, UNITS=5 (0 in use) 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 This license will expire on 6 Sep 2001 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 Initialization complete. 5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 Press Ctrl-C at any time to enter a command. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I emailed listserv support explaining the situation. The email me back saying: ---------------From Lsoft support----------------------------------------- >5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 >>> Error X'00B00433' enqueuing mail for delivery <<< >5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Severity: Error >5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Facility: POSIX/unix error codes >5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> Abstract: Unspecified error (134) - See errno.h >5 Oct 2000 15:16:21 -> strerror: Transport endpoint is not connected This is a protocol error. "I tried to connect to the SMTP server, and the socket died on me". Assuming you're using the localhost for delivery, it's either a qmail problem or a protocol problem. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone else have any advice? Thanks for any and all help. Tom Kompare [log in to unmask]
