The Listserv 1.8d installation that I manage runs on a Compaq AlphaServer 4100 with Tru64 Unix. Recently, Listserv crashed and dumped core. Each time, the following log sequence was observed: @4000000039e0a9602ab31954 8 Oct 2000 13:05:26 To [ANONYMOUS]@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU: ***OK*** 5AD293762C8925FFAC @4000000039e0a9632c634224 8 Oct 2000 13:05:29 From [ANONYMOUS]@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU: X-LOGCK 5AD293762C8925FFAC AUTHINFO(24.200.47.219) NOTEBOOK(networker) DBS: SEAR (...) @4000000039e0a96332be3624 8 Oct 2000 13:05:29 Reindexing NETWORKER LOG0010... @4000000039e0a9e92f2b0ce4 8 Oct 2000 13:07:43 LISTSERV(R) for unix version 1.8d starting... @4000000039e0a9e92f2b0ce4 8 Oct 2000 13:07:43 Copyright L-Soft international 1986-2000 @4000000039e0a9e92f37c2cc 8 Oct 2000 13:07:43 SIGNUP files are being compressed... @4000000039e0a9ed2333cd7c 8 Oct 2000 13:07:47 -> 67 entries removed. @4000000039e0a9ed2b0c12ac 8 Oct 2000 13:07:47 Nearest backbone host is [log in to unmask] @4000000039e0a9ed2b0c12ac 8 Oct 2000 13:07:47 Nearest NJE host is LISTSERV@CUNYVM @4000000039e0a9ed2e2cd6c4 8 Oct 2000 13:07:47 Building list indexes... I look like someone was trying to access the archives from the NETWORKER list which I happen to personally manage. What exactly do the three log file entries that follow mean: @4000000039e0a9632c634224 8 Oct 2000 13:05:29 From [ANONYMOUS]@LISTSERV.TEMPLE.EDU: X-LOGCK 5AD293762C8925FFAC AUTHINFO(24.200.47.219) NOTEBOOK(networker) DBS: SEAR (...) @4000000039e0a96332be3624 8 Oct 2000 13:05:29 Reindexing NETWORKER LOG0010... I just manually reindexed the NETWORKER list and it seems to have worked fine. I did this by removing all the networker.*ind* files, then getting the list's header and putting it back on the server.
