I know I have seen on this list some problems with AOL in the past. When certain people from AOL try and subscribe to lists held here we are getting error messages of the form; --------------- <W> Incorrect or incomplete address field found and ignored. --------------- Received: from [log in to unmask] by imo-d04.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v28.32.) id z.23.339753b (3963) for <[log in to unmask]>; Wed, 8 Nov 2000 12:43:50 -0500 (EST) From: [log in to unmask] --------------- I am going to assume that AOL is not issuing fully compliant RFC headers, is that correct. Is there any way to work around this problem ? This is an odd problem because I can see from the listserv logs that some users of AOL are able to subscribe to lists here. Cheers Duncan The full error message is at the end of this email. Full error message; An error occurred while processing file 2728 from [log in to unmask]: "Mail message sent to the LISTSERV address contains invalid RFC822 fields and could not be parsed successfully". RFC822 parser messages follow: <W> Incorrect or incomplete address field found and ignored. ------------------- Message causing the problem (20 lines) -------------------- Return-Path: <[log in to unmask]> Received: from nori.rl.ac.uk by jiscmail.ac.uk (LSMTP for Windows NT v1.1b) with SMTP id <[log in to unmask]>; Wed, 8 Nov 2000 17:44:00 +0000 Received: from imo-d04.mx.aol.com (imo-d04.mx.aol.com [205.188.157.36]) by nori.rl.ac.uk (8.11.1/8.11.1) with ESMTP id eA8Hjgf25931 for <[log in to unmask]>; Wed, 8 Nov 2000 17:45:42 GMT Received: from [log in to unmask] by imo-d04.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v28.32.) id z.23.339753b (3963) for <[log in to unmask]>; Wed, 8 Nov 2000 12:43:50 -0500 (EST) From: [log in to unmask] Message-ID: <[log in to unmask]> Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 12:43:49 EST Subject: join To: "[log in to unmask]": MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Windows AOL sub 123 join gender-religion [log in to unmask] stop
