My first guess is however that the actual IP address of the machine doesn't match the IP address that belongs to the hostname that your MTA thinks it's running on, causing it to think that it has to relay the mail. If you cloned your "test box" from your production environment, you probably missed a place where you needed to change (for example) listserv.nih.gov to listserv-test-box.nih.gov in some config file or other (the sendmail.cf 'Dj' and 'Cw' config macros are common offenders here) Valdis Kletnieks Operating Systems Analyst Virginia Tech
