Ahhh, a whois. This is basically how to find out information about who controls hosts and servers. In the old days we used to do this through a unix shell (or VMS terminal session when the VAX was running Multinet). Now, there are a variety of net tools. I am using a small program called CyberKit. There are many machines that provide information about who is in charge of what domain. The information returned looks like information below.
