Mention has been made on this list about LISTSERV 1.8e. I don't recall a comprehensive item about all of the new features/changes, but I do recall that rejection of HTML, whether attachment or not (thank you), and internal LISTSERV scanning for virsues were to be included. What about other features, from the listowners' viewpoint? Could we have a memo on that? As to the virus stuff, the admin at my host site tells me that the internal, LISTSERV, antivirus stuff will work only for Linux and a Windows platform (NT?) so that my site, being Unix, will not have it. If that is correct, why is it correct? Improvements are only for the currently most popular platforms and everyone else can go hang (AFD anyone?)? While I'm at it, I will repeat my request that LISTSERV strip the Resent-Subject: field from items which are approved via resend/bounce. I realise that not everyone will use the "resent" feature when editing/approving items for the list (I don't say "can't" as they "can" if they will bother to use a system which allows them to do it, but often they won't, considering said system too "clunky" (if it works, while the latest "gee whiz" doesn't, it ain't "clunky", even if you do have to think about how to use it)), but that does not mean it is not an important feature, nor that it shouldn't work well for those who do use it. I hope stripping of Resent-Subject: will be a feature of 1.8e, and I would like to know why the 1.8e LISTSERV "antivirus" feature will be for certain platforms but not others, if such is the case. I would also like to see a posting, on this list, about all 1.8e features, as to how they differ from the standard and latest 1.8d (including level sets as not all 1.8d sites have installed the "level sets").
