A lot of sites that produce search results will set an expiration time for the results page with the result that you cannot refresh or go back to that page later. A practice that I use is to open a link from a search results page in a new window. That saves the results page in the previous window and when I am finished viewing the results link, I just close it and use the results still active in the previous window. I also use this technique prior to saving a link in my Favorites. Some pages, especially with Frames, keep the original link in the address box even when going from page to page. But opening such a link in a new window will let you save it in your Favorites. I enter my search string (edition, reprint) and get my results. I click on a thread, read the thread, but then I want to go back to my result list without having to re-enter my search. Is there a way to do this? I hit the back button on my browser, but this doesn't seem to work. Is there a navigational button that I'm missing? <<< I don't normally search via the web, I use email. When I do search via the web, only to try to replicate someone's problem, I use keyboard (don't have a mouse) and the lynx browser. By using my left arrow key I can go back through the postings, in the same order I read them, until I get to the search result "index," but I don't see anything to take one directly back to that index. Is there one, or is there some trick? The archives are at Buffalo, 1.8e, *without* the Dec. 2002 level set (I don't think Jim ever installed the level set). I have never modified the archive web presence, and don't think Jim (LISTSERV host site administrator) has either, but haven't asked. Suggestions? Douglas Winship [log in to unmask]
