I see this recommendation every time someone reports a problem with an ISP, and
I have to assume that the individual making the recommendation lives in a large
metropolitan area with a veritable smorgasbord of Internet service providers.
Some of us live in small towns or rural areas which are served by only one ISP,
and 'get a new ISP' is not a viable option.

The simplest solution to this problem is to advise the subscriber to get an
account with one of the free webmail services, and subscribe to the list using
that address.
