I beg pardon, but, from your description I am a bit confused as to what you are trying to do. Some of it looks like you want to edit a list log, and some like you want to get rid of a filelist (catalog) file. Or maybe you want to get rid of an entire list log? If you want to get rid of a filelist (catalog) file, PUT the filename with no text, then PUT the filelist (catalog) catalog minus the filename.filetype for that file. The first deletes the text, the second deletes the, now empty, file itself. I suppose a listowner could do that to totally eliminate a particular log (Notebook=, the list archives) though I've never tried it. If I wanted something like that I would ask the host site administrator to do it for me as he has access to more efficient means for this sort of thing. If, though, what you want to do is edit a posting within a log, well, edit the log (which is a file) and put it back. You can GETPOST an item within a log, but that item is not itself a file, it is part of a file, the file being the list log where the particular item/posting is stored (as I recall, I don't think there is a Notebook= option to have a log for each posting, I think, without looking, the options are Yearly,Monthly,Weekly,Daily,Hourly and then an option for customized Hours:Minutes:Seconds, but that's from memory so some may be wrong). You can GET an item within a log, but you can't PUT it. You have to GET, edit, and PUT the entire log. It is not a good idea, though, to totally delete an item/posting from a log as it might mess up the indexing, producing quite odd results which can be interesting puzzles to fix, when one has a bit of spare time. As said, I'm not certain what you are tring to do. > Retrieved the log via email > Retrieved the file via email indicates maybe you want to edit a list log (archives, Notebook= ). But, > Now how to I use PUT and completely delete it so it no longer appears > listed on the web. says you want to elimimate an item in the list filelist/catalog, which has nothing to do with the logs. Just exactly what is it that you want to do? What "file", where, do you want eliminated? By the way, and this is just a suspicion, it likely is not a good idea to mix list maintenance via email with the same via the web presence. Choose a way of doing it and stick to it (don't "second guess" your email commands by checking on the web). I, personally, choose to do everything via eamil, and do not try to "check up" on things via the web presence. I suspect that mixing the two is a recipe for insanity, if the web presence itself isn't. If you have sent a command by email, wait for that email job output, however long it takes, before applying your restless fingers to the web presence. So, just exactly what are you trying to do? Please be very specific. Douglas Winship [log in to unmask]
