Pete, > Truth be told, DIGEST or Index works I can see how it might, but it won't for me. Our list server is so heavily loaded that almost all lists are required to use an alternative method of archiving mail instead of the LISTSERV Notebook, so the digest and index options don't work at all on my list. > I had a problem with one subscriber who posted and another subscriber to whom it was distributed and the latter bounced it for exceeding RECEIVED count. SHORTHDR "fixed" that. I agree with the quotation marks--it's a workaround, not a fix. (Especially since it eliminates subject tags and sequence numbers, both of which we use.) It does happen to be the same workaround that kept us from running into the problem at all with Majordomo, although it's much nicer to be able to apply it to individual subscribers instead of the whole list. But it's a workaround I need to be able to depend on, and I get scared when it gets labeled "special or obsolete" because that might tempt someone to eliminate it someday. Hal
