Facebook, Twitter, and wordpress.com all have free social media options.

An email list works best for an active push of content. And people can use the email client they are comfortable with. Google and Yahoo have discussions group. I found yahoo easier. But still a small learning curve.

Since my mom learned facebook. That is what I would recommend for a community to share content. I've found our audience has segmented with some doing only twitter, some only facebook, etc. It's no longer one website fits all.

Read about Google Groups. It's free and easy.

Cheers, Wayne (there are other alternatives, of course)
