I guess I'm going to have a very quiet weekend... FRMOP22 is down. I tried to give a phone call and, O surprise, someone answered!! When I asked him to please restart the FRHEC11 line, he asked what "FRHEC11" meant. I explained about the network and the MVS machine and he said "It's the 3033, right?" -- "No, not the 3033, the 3081." -- "So, what is the command?" -- "Well, I don't know, I don't know MVS at all!" -- "Me either." -- (trying to remember what I had overheard at SHARE) "I think it's $S, try $SFRHEC11" -- "Sorry, doesn't work". Oh well. Still, I'd like to know what use can an operator be if he does not know anything about his system... All the other JES2 nodes in France and in Belgium were either routed through FRMOP22 or down, so I could not ask anybody, and FRCPN11 was down so no way to reach the States or Germany via CMD FRCPN11 CMD CERNVM CMD CEARN... :-( Could one of the JES2 people here tell me what the proper command is, pour la prochaine fois? :-) Version 8611 of BITEARN NODES is out. Please retrieve file VERS8611 NODUPD from Netserv, run UPDNODES, reboot LISTSERV and run NODESGEN. Here is an exerpt from VERS8611 NODUPD: ADD FRESE51 :nodenum.PEND :net.EARN :lastup.86/10/13 :abbr.Ecole Superieure d'Electricite :site.Ecole Superieure d'Electricite, Gif-sur-Yvette, France :addr.Ecole Superieure d'Electricite;Plateau du Moulon;F-91191 GIF SUR YVETTE :country.F :longitude.002E26 :latitude.48N38 :gmtoff.+01.00 :planet.EARTH :director.(Mr CLAR Daniel) (+33 1 69.41.80.40) :system.VMS :netsoft.NJE Argonne :msgs.NO :cmds.NO :files.YES :fclass.N :machine.DEC MICROVAX II :connect.planned :via.FRPOLY11 :linkspeed.9600 :linktype.LEASED :adjnodes1.FRPOLY11 :adjtypes1.9L That's Supelec!! Now I understand why they complained about the phone bill. They connected to FRPOLY11 instead of FRORS31 which is a few hundred yards from the school... Oh well, I don't care, it's their money, if they want to waste it it's their problem... :-) You may also wish to have a look at the REP FRECP11 entry. For some reason EARN coordination has decided that "Eric Thomas" should be replaced by "Mr. Eric Thomas"... :-( I preferred it as it was before... :-( Oh well, never mind. There doesn't seem to have been any major change in Europe, so it's not worth re-exploding the lists. I'll try to take opportunity of this quiet weekend to finish 1.5c... Eric
