On Sun, 7 Nov 1993 11:28:44 -0800, Shahjehan Khatri <[log in to unmask]> describes (yet again) the problem users have when they send mail from an address of the form [log in to unmask] OK. I concede. You've finally convinced me. For years now, people have been telling me that I'm subscribed to too many lists. Ok. I believe them now. This has got to be the third time this topic has come up in as many months on as many lists. Sheesh. Take a look at the LMAIL-L archives from last month. I think it was also brought up on NODMGT-L two months ago. Basically, there's nothing you can do. If people are going to send mail from that kind of address, they're outta luck. >I am sure this problem has been discussed in the past Oooppps. Sorry. Guess I didn't read enough of your note. > and has been >"addressed" properly. "Addressed properly" ??!!!??? Common. Gimme a break! :-) Changing the routing isn't going to help unless you are the one sending out addresses of the form [log in to unmask] If that's the case, then you should strongly encourage (Hmm. "force" might be too strong a word. But not by much.) your users to send their mail with fully-qualified domain names. If you aren't the one sending out the bogus .BITNET addresses, then it won't help to change the routing tables in your mailer. > Sorry I have been in a cave all this while. Hope the above doesn't sound too much like a flame. Bill > Shah
