>I'm asking this for a postmaster in Massachusetts whose system is about >to change the "From" field. His question: "How do we handle changing >our users' subscriptions to LISTSERVs? Once we change our from field, >they will not be able to UNSUB from their lists. Do you have any advice? >Is there a way to tell ALL LISTS change all xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx addresses to >whatever it is that we have decided we need to call ourselves?" The answer depends on some specific scenarios e.g., if the host was a BITNET site (registered in the BITEARN NODES db), then using the :NEWNODE tag would be of great benefit. (GET the file LEAVING BITNET from LISTSERV@bitnic (@bitnic.educom.edu).) If this is an Internet-only (or gateway address), then the host's Domain Name sysadmin could do some razzle-dazzle ;-) that could (possibly) obviate or ameliorate the need by using CNAME or MX records. If not, then I don't know of any automated way (but others might). /Pete ([log in to unmask]) -- co-owner LDBASE-L, TQM-L, CPARK-L, et -L -- Peter M.
