In article MSGID, Bill Gruber <[log in to unmask]> says: >When you put new items into your filelist you can post something on your >list which explains what these items are. That way people doing searches >will find your postings which refer them to the filelist. FILELISTs that I've seen do this have a separate file for announcing new files e.g., listname ANNOUNCE or listname INDEX or listname ARCHIVE. Folks AFD to that file (or perhaps FUI). Also, if file names are well-structured, wild-card notation can be used in the filelist itself (entries start with a ">" and fn/ft have an "*" where the generic part is). Then users can AFD to the full wild-card specification on some subset. For an ideas, see the CCNEWS filelist. /Pete ([log in to unmask]) -- co-owner LDBASE-L, TQM-L, CPARK-L, et -L -- Peter M.
