You are correct in your understanding that MAIL, NOMAIL, DIGEST, and INDEX are four, mutually-exclusive, settings for the same flag. Whatever setting you have operational will remain the active one until you re-set it to one of the other settings using the SET <LISTNAME> <OPTION> command. Therefore, if you were on DIGEST and had temporarily reset your option to NOMAIL (while on vacation, etc.), all you need to do when returning to the list (assuming you wish to return to DIGEST) is to SET <LISTNAME> DIGEST. There is no need to take the intervening step of setting the list to MAIL. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Judith Hopkins VOICE: (716) 645-2796 Technical Services Research and Analysis Officer Central Technical Services FAX: (716) 645-5955 Lockwood Library Building State University of New York at Buffalo BITNET: ulcjh@ubvm (OR, ubvms) Buffalo, NY 14260-2200 INTERNET: [log in to unmask] Listowner: AUTOCAT@UBVM or [log in to unmask] -------------------------------------------------------------------------
