After some tap-dancing with /etc/inittab, MH, dd, and a number of other utilities, I finally extracted the lb64 format file as sent from listserv@vtvm1 to listserv.vt.edu. As it turns out, the %.bitnet hacking was apparently done after listserv.vt.edu processed it, as until then, all the headers as listed below were hidden inside a lb64 file, and thus not visible to lmail, smpt, or the inbound sendmail. After looking at this, it appears that 'List-address = FQDN' will solve the problem, and preliminary tests confirm this... /Valdis //TEST-L JOB Echo=No,Reply-to="POSTMAST@VTVM1" //To DD * VALDIS BLACK-ICE.CC.VT.EDU BSMTP VALDIS VTAIX.CC.VT.EDU BSMTP VALDIS VT.EDU BSMTP /* // DIST2 MAIL I=Y [log in to unmask] FORW(CRC) HOST(607 607 607) //Via DD "VTVM1" //CRC DD "2-5F3E3DDF" //Data DD *,EOF Date: Wed, 14 Sep 1994 14:35:16 EDT Reply-To: Test list - not for real use <[log in to unmask]> Sender: Test list - not for real use <[log in to unmask]> From: Valdis Kletnieks <[log in to unmask]> Organization: Virginia Polytechnic Institute Subject: Test 3...
