A few days ago, there was some traffic on this list about problems with non-delivery notices coming from domain AX.COM. I was having problems with subscription to CLIMLIST from this domain so I contacted the technical guy for the domain and he tells me this..... -----start included text----- Ack. Ok, basically.. We've got some idiot out on the net that is faking email and sending requests to many if not all of the LISTSERV lists at PSU. All we can do is try and remove them from the lists.. It creates all sorts of bounces for a lot of folks. There isn't much I can do on this end.. It was probably "psyche" or "jessica"... Anyone from AX.COM should not be allowed on any of those lists.. None of the folks in my domain need access.. Thanks for your help.. --Paul -----end included text----- This doesn't explain why [log in to unmask] sends 55 (in my case) non-delivery messages for every misdirected mail item but it does suggest that we should all routinely delete all subscribers at ax.com. My suggestion is to use QUIET when you do it as the notification will itself generate dozens of non-delivery notices. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Arnfield / [log in to unmask] / [log in to unmask] Dept of Geography, The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH 43210-1361, USA Tel: +1 614 292 7954 / Fax: +1 614 292 6213
