L-SOFT SEEKS JOINT STUDY PARTNERS TO TEST LISTSERV FOR WINDOWS NT(TM) October 6th, 1994 L-Soft International Inc. ("L-Soft") has completed the port of its popular LISTSERV product to the Windows NT(TM) operating system, with the exception of the mail system interface. Because RFC822 is not the native mail system in the PC world, a number of options are available for the development of this mail system interface. It may, in fact, be desirable to develop several such interfaces, to address the needs of the various PC mail user communities. L-Soft is seeking joint study partners to evaluate, develop and test mail system interfaces for the Windows NT(TM) version of LISTSERV, and to test the product itself in an Internet-connected Windows NT(TM) environment. The goal is for the Windows NT(TM) version of LISTSERV to be ready for high-volume, production quality service by January. The selected partners will receive a perpetual LISTSERV license for unlimited capacity for each system that needs to participate in the joint study, plus a support package based on the amount of manpower contributed by the partner (to be negotiated). While pricing for the Windows NT(TM) version of LISTSERV has not been finalized yet, this license and support package is expected to be worth on the order of US$6,000.00. Prospective partners are expected to have serious field experience with one or more major PC mail systems, with their respective programming interfaces, with Internet mail, and with Windows NT(TM). The partners will provide technical advice, one or more Internet-connected systems on which to test the products, and manpower to carry out general-purpose testing and evaluation. To apply, or to request more information, simply write to [log in to unmask] LISTSERV is the product that defined the de facto standards for mailing lists. Originally introduced in 1986, LISTSERV is presently available for VM, VMS(TM) and nine popular unix(R) environments, and delivers 5.5 to 6.5 million messages on a typical business day. The Windows NT(TM) and Windows(R) 95 versions, expected 1Q95 and with the release of Windows(R) 95, respectively, will make the state of the art in mailing list management more readily accessible to small businesses and organizations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- L-SOFT is a trademark of L-Soft international.
