Norm, The jerk posted an ad for his business - he's the center of the internet (claims it's a slogan like Coke is 'the real thing'). He actually claims it's his constitutional right to use the list as he sees fit! I consider what he did to be spamming. I'm beginning to doubt he could be a lawyer, but he claims to be one. His logic is not great, and his grasp of legal concepts seems pretty weak. He does appear to have mastered the belligerent brow-beating part, though. Sadly, I cannot speak to your question about the list's charter. It hardly matters though, because the moderator has made it quite clear in the short time I've been on the list that ads were NOT welcome unless they were directly related to the list's purpose, but discussion of ads and marketing in general is welcome. I do understand that lists which have clear charters are considerably better off, particularly when this kind of nonsense starts up, though. The free-market list went off-line late yesterday, but seems to be up again as of around noon. Thanks for your interest.
