Hello, I am neither a postmaster nor a subscriber to this list, but it was suggested to me that I post a question here. I am the system administrator for a VAX/VMS system at the Temple University Dental School. Here's my problem: Three people at our site are subscribed to a listserv list ([log in to unmask]). For some reason, unbeknownst to me, our systems's mailer (UCX_SMTP) is sending error messages to DBLIST. These error messages appear to be in some way connected to a bad user address in the list subscription ([log in to unmask]). What I can't figure out is 1) why our system, which is in no way connected to the bad user address, is generating error messages and 2) why the LISTSERV doesn't reject messages which include the list address. I have recently upgraded to a new version of DEC's TCP/IP software for VMS (UCX V3.1, ECO Level 6). This problem seems to coincide rather neatly with the software upgrade. I suppose it could be a coincidence, but I'm suspicious. Any suggestions as to how I can stop this from happening in the future would be greatly appreciated. The list owner can certainly remove the offending address from the list, but my concern is that it will start up again with the next bad address. As I mentioned before, I am not subscribed to this list, so please send responses directly to me. A copy of one of the messages posted to DBLIST follows.
