For a particular list that I co-operate, I used to unsubscribe users that bounced (who met my personal algorithm) instead of setting them NOMAIL (due to the fact that those users usually would broadcast a message back to the list when they realized after about a week of not receiving 100 messages that something was amiss :-(). With the latest version of LISTSERV (1.8b), a list-owner option of NOPOST is provided. Now what I do is SET listname NOPOST NOMAIL FOR userid@node Remember that NOMAIL does not cause the DIGEST/INDEX option to be forgotten, so that when/if you are ready to return this user to normal service i.e., SET listname POST MAIL FOR userid@node the actual distribution option of either MAIl, DIGEST, or INDEX is restored. NOPOST prevents the subscriber from posting to the list. They can not negate that option. -- co-owner INFOSYS, TQM-L, CPARK-L, ERAPPA-L, JANITORS, LDBASE-L, et -L [log in to unmask] "It may not be SPAM, but it ain't kosher either!" 31 Shields Bldg. -- Penn State Univ -- University Park, PA 16802-1202 USA
