This is a repost of a previous problem we've encountered since upgrading to 1.8c under HP-UX 9.05. Periodically Listserv just ... stops. There appears to be an orphan child Listserv process whose creation time matches that of the last entry in the Listserv log. Nothing out of the ordinary is logged prior to the hang in either the Listserv or the system logs. No core dump - nothing. The child process just sits there and does not respond - Listserv is effectively dead at this point and must be killed then restarted. We didn't have this problem under 1.8b. Any other HP-UX sites notice this problem? Could it be a problem with the way it forks off child processes? Are there kernel parms anyone know about which could affect this? I've looked to see if there is any way to force a core dump under this situation and nothing seems obvious. Lsoft: anything else I can do to help you resolve this? I dunno if it's an HP-UX problem which is showing up under Listserv 1.8c or what. Is there anything internal in Listserv which has changed radically between the two releases which may be related to this problem? Any ideas appreciated since I'm completely at a dead-end Thanks, Scotty -- Steve Howie Netnews and Listserv Admin University of Guelph
