Though I am no SMTP expert, I do know that L-Soft, Inc.'s products use the EHLO SMTP protocol if they are able (by interrogating the response from the customer's SMTP server). I did notice that both MX hosts at this customer site produce long text message (negative) responses. My next command did NOT occur (on my terminal screen) in the usual left-most column. /Pete ----- At 16:58 2/11/98 -0500, you wrote: | 13:26:16 mail-gw2.jnj.com( 1) >>> 500 Command unrecognized | |220 Wed, | SMTP 11 Feb 1998 13:24:32 -0500 (EST) | 13:26:16 mail-gw2.jnj.com( 1) <<< QUIT | 13:26:16 mail-gw2.jnj.com( 1) >>> 221 imail-gw2.jnj.com closing | connection | 13:26:16 ( 1)O end VISUS.JNJ.COM | 13:26:16 ( 7)O begin VISUS.JNJ.COM | 13:27:18 mail-gw2.jnj.com( 7) >>> 220 Wed, SMTP 11 Feb 1998 13:25:35 | -0500 (EST) | 13:27:18 mail-gw2.jnj.com( 7) <<< EHLO listserv.kepner-tregoe.com | 13:29:39 ( 6)I end listserv.kepner-tregoe.com, | %LSMTP-E-SMTP_READTMO | 13:37:19 mail-gw1.jnj.com( 7) >>> 500 Command unrecognized
