Certain OSs and editors, notably with experience, the combination of OpenVMS and the EDT editor (TPU doesn't seem to have this problem), seem to truncate lines to the first 255 characters on a line which does not have a line feed and carriage return. VMS requires both to be at the end of a line, and I have recieved multiple e-mail messages which I simply can not read because they get truncated in EDT (my school account, the one I sub to lstown-l from and do all other e-mail funcitons) but in TPU (invoked from a OpenVMS ISP closer to home for summer use which my mother uses for e-mail and a web hosting deal primarily year round) there does not seem to be the same problem. My bet is that it is a parsing problem in the design of EDT, but even then, I can make out the first 255 characters on any given line. Glenn
