A while ago I pointed out that the now-defunct Listmanager software had the capacity to enumerate reflector and digest messages separately: [LGBS 1047] [LGB-Sports Digest 201] so that subscribers could be absolutely sure they were getting every message. It also makes things much easier to diagnose a reflector problem: Listserv can and will enumerate digests, but not reflector messages. One of my lists is having exactly the sort of hard-to-trace problem of disappearing reflector messages that this enumeration feature would make very easy to diagnose. If the subscriber receives [Icebike 2199] and [Icebike 2202], and everything before and after those, respectively, then guess what? we know that 2200 and 2201 are the culprits. Will Lsoft *please* add this *very* simple feature? Presumably one could even add it as an X- header: X-LISTNAME-Serial-Number: 2199 -- Joe Clark [log in to unmask] <http://www.interlog.com/~joeclark>
