The sender of the message quoted the previous message from the list, including the message headers with the list name and address, in his/her reply. This is a breach of netiquette, of course, but would not normally cause problems, however, the sender's brain-dead email client insertd a blank between the quote character (>) and the headers, thus tripping listserv's mail loop detector.
