Hi Cleo, I think you are confusing access to the Web Archive Interface (which is determined by the privacy setting on the Notebooks= keyword line) with the Web Subscriber Interface. I'm interested in what makes the Web Subscriber Interface a) ask for a password before a subscriber can even enter a request as opposed to b) allowing a subscriber to subscribe or submit a request to change his options and then confirm the subscriber's request via an e-mail (which contains an instruction to reply to the server with an OK). -- John At 03:56 PM 5/28/1999 -0600, you wrote: >> What determines whether the 1.8d Web Subscriber Interface page for a given >> list is password protected? > >Hi john.. the following part of a list's header: > > >* Notebook=Yes,LISTS:[XXXX],Monthly,Public > >this one is open to the public [no one needs a password] > >* Notebook=Yes,LISTS:[XXXX],Monthly,Private > >only subscriber's can access [need password] > >* Notebook=Yes,LISTS:[XXXX],Monthly,Owners > >only list's owners can access.. need password > > > ...Cleo [log in to unmask] > >
