The most pathetic thing about these email footers is that it suggests that the person who wrote them actually thought that e-mail might be a proper method for conveying confidential or privileged information. Someone should sue these lawyers for leading their recipients to think that it is. E-mail is intrinsically insecure!!!! Anyone who pretends otherwise is either severely deluded or lying. The rule of thumb for e-mail, ALL e-mail, including private mail or PGP- signed mail, is: DON'T SEND ANYTHING OVER E-MAIL THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE WASHINGTON POST (pick your favorite newspaper).
