Welcome to the world of non-standard (DOT).
So still, the best way is knowing what the recipient support and do two
sending.

I don't know of any mail servers that break here, (the SMTP protocol does
require a line break at 1000 chars but nothing shorter) but I do know alot
of
mail client programs that do.  Welcome to the world of non-standard email...
