From having a list trashed in a different way (i got really stupid one day
and sent listserv a

del listname *@*

which of course did just what I wanted....and sent me over a thousand msgs
that so and so had been deleted.

well, i contacted the guy who handles backups.....and had it restored from
backup.  Sure, a couple of deletions or additions might not be on it, but
it was minor compared to the alternative....
