Looks like you have some character-count limit.  For practical purposes, I
would limit it to 40, even if LISTSERV accepts more.  I seemed to recall
that some subscribers' mail system either have a hard time
receiving/interpretting long comment fields, or they can't easily REPLY to
such.

By defintion the list is some sort of "A discussion group"
