Spammers To Setup Own Backbone
The infamous Cyber Promotions Inc., led by Sanford "Spamford" Wallace,
has been cut off by five Internet Service Providers. Most recently AGIS
killed CyberPromo's service along with another major spamhouse, Quantum
Communications Inc,
Now the two companies, CyberPromo and Quantum, along with an unnamed third
spammer have incorporated as Global Technology Marketing, Inc. to offer
massive spamming services to email advertisers.
The network is due online within a week, and will provide Internet access
to spammers. Although a reportedly strict code of ethics must be followed
(no pornography, falsified headers, mail server hijacking), CyberPromo's
past track record leaves little to hope for. A previously offered opt-out
filter ostensibly allowed spam recipients an option to be removed from
email lists; however, it rarely worked as planned.
Unless we do something to stop the likes of Spamford and his cohorts,
we're in for a lot of junk email.
