A related question recently arose on my list (which has
SUBSCRIPTION= OPEN,CONFIRM) that might have a bearing on
your problem. While all new subscribers were asked to confirm
their subscriptions it turned out some people were being asked
to confirm a request to set NOMAIL while others were not. If I
remember correctly it turned out that those who were using
web-based mailers were the ones being asked to confirm while
those not using web-based mailers were not. You might check
to see if your subscribers who are being asked to confirm are
using various Microsoft or Netscape mailers.
