I'm getting tired of the hassles of renewals, but don't really want to end
some sort of "housekeeping".  I'd planned on using probes, but am I correct
that it is only in 1.8d?   I'd thought it was in 1.8c, but can't find it in
the docs on my bookshelf (yeah, I print'em and bind'em).

I know we should have d, but I'm not the guy who has to install it, and
he's busier than ever (can we spell PeopleSoft, folks?), and is convinced
the upgrade will be some major shindig and require vast amounts of his
time.  Can you give me info to correct him, particularly if you can do so
soon (as I meet with him in about 16 hours)?  We're talking about an RS6000
AIX box in case it matters.
