Hmm, sorry to send another post but I'd hit the send button when I thought
of something else.  A digest file could also cause this behaviour (it's
also written in your quota directory).  Since the digest file is deleted
after it is sent, it's possible that it might have been large when you
sent the first command and small when you sent the second.
