Ian,

To be entirely clear, what Gmail seems to be doing is sorting the mail from
the poster into the Sent Mail folder instead of the Inbox.

The weird part is that Gmail also seems to be using more information than
the sending address to figure out who it's from. I do not know the details;
I just know that it can do this with mail that was not sent from the Gmail
account. This is entirely based on anecdotal evidence, but I believe it to
be true: if it weren't so, why would the subscriber complain?

All I can suggest is that you check in the Gmail Sent Mail folder for the
missing email. If it's there, it is rumored to be possible to tell Gmail,
for a specific address, not to do that. But the online descriptions of the
procedure are hard for me to follow, especially since I don't have a good
case of my own with which to experiment.

I note the statement that this happened with one list and not the others. If
all other variables are equal (subscription settings and combination of
addresses), this might provide insight into how Gmail does this danged thing
in the first place.

The suggestion that you set your Yahoo account subscription to ACK remains a
good one. That way, when you post from it, you should get a distribution
notice from the server, providing the confirmation you're not getting by
delivery to your Gmail Inbox.
