Have a seat, my son...
A long time ago, so long that their origins are lost to the mists of time
(and a hard drive crash), the Gateways <reverent silence> were created.
Nobody really knows where they came from, or who created them. Legends told
late at night by the Lis Towners speak of mystical beings called "Younniks
Gods" or "Xhakkers" gathering around the dim light of a "See-arTee" to
invoke their magical incantations of "makdir" and "teeseepee". Out of the
shadows came The Gateways in a shower of eldritch fire.
Once the Gateways cooled, they were bound to the "lisztsurv" by some arcane
ceremony which made sacrifices of "proppogation" and "responzthyme" to the
Great God YouseNett. For these sacrifices, YouseNett bestowed upon the
Gateways the mystical power "Axs Ability", but doomed them to forever dwell
in the lands of bitlisztsurv.

Either that, or it was this way when I took the list two years ago...
