As a list-owner, you should permanently over-ride renewal
processing for gateways such as NETNEWS:
 
QUIET SET listname NORENEW FOR NETNEWS@*
 
BTW, renewal processing starts "immediately" on existing
subscriptions.  Remember "immediately" means this Sunday
nite.
 
RENEWAL processing, a list-owner only option, occurs against
ALL subscriptions (except for the NORENEW aka WAIVED ones).
