The pre-eminient document on searching lists is called LISTSOF LISTS
and it is compiled by Marty Hoag.  Not only is that file available
via listserv at NDSUVM1, but it is also available via anonymous FTP
to vm1.nodak.edu subdirectory listarch.  The file was last stored
on 08/22/91 and that date is also within the document proper.
 
The reason that I mentioned the date of the document is tbat it
does get updated from time to time, so you may want to AFD or FUI it.
