It doesn't work exactly that way but technically you do not have to do
anything to the Auto-Delete= keyword to use address probing, short of
making sure it's turned on and not set to "manual". Probing is invoked
for a user if either:

  * the renewal point is reached for that subscriber and that subscriber
    has not been "active", e.g., hasn't posted or sent a SET command for
    a period of time

  * a "permanent" type error (e.g., notary 5.x.x) is received for the user

Once one of these two conditions are met, the PROBE1 template is sent out.
If an error comes back from PROBE1, PROBE2 is then sent once daily to the
address until the auto-deletion parameters are reached. For instance, if
you have the list set to auto-delete people after errors in 4 consecutive
days, four bounced PROBE messages (one per day) will cause the user to be
auto-deleted.

Now naturally if you have "Auto-Delete= Yes,Manual", people aren't going to
get auto-deleted as the result of a probe, and sites that bounce the probe
back to the wrong address (i.e., not to the RFC821 MAIL FROM:) aren't going
to have their users auto-deleted (I had one like that from a Notes server
this morning, in fact). On most of my lists I have

* Auto-Delete= Yes,Full-Auto,Delay(4),Max(10)
* Renewal= <this parameter varies>,Probe

which is rather strict but then I run a bunch of high-traffic lists :)
