OK, I suppose so.  I just wanted to know if listserv somehow had the
ability to do this itself.
 
I've seen another case like this too: since I transferred my list from
a non-BITNET machine, I had some BITNET addresses that were of the form
[log in to unmask]  About a week after I transferred
the addresses, someone mysteriously unsubscribed all these BITNET
addresses and resubscribed them as user%machine.bitnet.  Again, it
looked like it was done by the individual users, though it obviously
wasn't, since they were all done at the same time for different users
on different machines.  If it was the mitvma postmaster, you would
think that he would have the access to do it as listserv owner without
needing to "forge" the users' addresses...
