If you send E-mail to any LISTSERV on BITNET, and put the command:

      REVIEW MUSEUM-L ( SHORT LOCAL

into the "body" of the E-mail, you'll be mailed a summary somewhat like
following, from the ID [log in to unmask] ([log in to unmask]):

*
*  Museum discussion list
*
*  Ack= Yes
*  Confidential= No
*  Errors-To= chadwick@UNMB
*  Files= Yes
*  Notebook= Yes,L,monthly,private
*  Notify= Yes
*  RENEWAL=12/01,DELAY(15)
*  Reply-to= List,Ignore
*  Review= Public
*  Send= Public
*  Subscription= OPEN
*  Validate= store only
*
*  Owner= chadwick@UNMB  ( John Chadwick )
* Owner= [log in to unmask] (John Chadwick)
*
* Total number of "concealed" subscribers: 6
* Total number of users subscribed to the list: 813 (non-"concealed" only)
* Total number of local node users on the list: 0 (non-"concealed" only)
*

Note that "notebooks" of all postings to the list are retained,
and that they are grouped "monthly", and that they are "privately" available,
i.e., available only to subscribers.

Also, note that subscription to the list is "open" to all people.

So, I suggest that you send E-mail to the ID [log in to unmask],
and put the commands:

 REGISTER Ms. Kim Miklofsky Bayne, Pres. of wolfBayne Marketing Communications
 SUBSCRIBE MUSEUM-L
 GET       MUSEUM-L LOG9406
 SIGNOFF   MUSEUM-L
 REGISTER  OFF

into the "body" of the E-mail. This will add your ID to the subscriber-list,
thus allowing you to 'GET' any of the archives, perform the 'GET' command,
and then remove your ID from the mailing-list.

LISTSERV will send you the archives for the month of June 1994.
Read this file, and you should get an idea of what topics are discussed.

It would be possible to omit the 'REGISTER', 'SUBSCRIBE', and 'SIGNOFF'
commands, if the list-owner of that list had used the keyword 'public',
instead of the keyword 'private', as part of the 'Notebook=' definition.

John Chadwick: is it possible for you to make that change?

At the same time, consider changing 'Files=YES' to 'Files=NO',
in order to prevent BITNET users from sending arbitrary "files" to MUSEUM-L,
thus telling LISTSERV to *NOT* distribute those files to your subscribers. :-(

Also, in preparation for Release 1.8a of LISTSERV,
you should change 'Validate= STORE ONLY' to 'Validate= NO'.
