Whoa! I see no compelling reason to do so.
It's only one specific mailing-list at one site which is having problems.
Unfortunately for you, it's your site. :-)

As usual, skip to the bottom of the posting, and work towards the top.

3. The message from LISTSERV reached the host of this list-owner.
So, why couldn't this host deliver it to the 'G.GP' machine?
Use of the 'FINGER' command shows:

! [gs58.sp.cs.cmu.edu]
! Login name: michal In real life: Michal Prussak
! Directory: /usr0/michal Shell: /usr/cs/bin/csh
! On since Mar 22 09:38:03 15 minutes Idle Time
! on ttyt0 from 128.2.209.90: via KRUSHER.VI.RI.CMU.EDU
! Mail is forwarded to [log in to unmask]
! Plan:
! Graduate Student, Computer Science
! Lab: WeH 5320, phone x8716 (I'm in the lab 99.9999% of the time)
! Office: WeH 5103, Office Phone x7571
! Home: 5450 Fair Oaks St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217, (412) 683-2786
! Machine: gs58.sp

So, the answer is that Michal's E-mail is "forward"-ed to another machine,
and that machine was "down" for a few days. Nothing untypical! :-)

2. Where did the ID "michal+@g.gp.." come from? For answer, see above!
When I tried the PING, TELNET, and E-mail ports on the 'G.GP' machine,
they all responded. So, the "service interruption" must have ended. :-)
The "host-info" record for this machine shows 'MICRO-VAX-3 UNIX',
i.e., another "if it breaks, it's not mission-critical, so we'll fit
it soon" machine. So, it's reasonable that it could have went "down"
on Friday and Saturday, and not have been fixed until Monday (today).

1. Note that 'LISTSERV@UBVM' is sending E-mail regarding an E-mail problem
with the 'POLAND-L@UBVM' mailing list to "Michal Prussak". Why? Because
   LISTSERV is "working-as-designed". :-) I sent a 'REVIEW POLAND-L (SHORT'
command to 'LISTSERV@UBVM', and it lists two owners, namely:

        * Owner= [log in to unmask] (Michal Prussak)
        * Owner= [log in to unmask] (Witold Owoc)

So, Michal is a "list-owner" for this specific mailing-list.
It's unusual, but not unethical, to have non-BITNET-eers as list-owners.

A quick look at a "host-info" record shows that 'gs58' is a IBM-PC/RT,
i.e., an adequate, though aging, piece of hardware and software,
in the CS (probably "Computer Science", rather than "Computing Services")
department. Consider the "owner" of the machine, and transform that into
a "length-of-time-after-it-breaks-before-it-gets-fixed" measure. :-)
