Our uni provider has the unpatched version with no plans that I can tell to
change.

I appreciated the peek at your mailtpl, ours only contains the >>> probe
section. We have a Welcome file but it wasn't mentioned in the Mailtpl.

I haven't batch programmed since 1.8b so am pretty rusty.
