Thanks, Pete, but I had already raked over those. I don't see a clear explanation of why I sometimes receive singular, immediate error reports and why other errors are held to be reported in the next day's daily report. Would love some clarification.

Thanks to others for information on "relaying not permitted."

Also please advise on which setting is preferable for Auto-Delete for my lists. The current list has 700 subscribers, going to only 5 mail servers, with a clientele I need to handle with kid gloves. I am adding 2 other lists with the same parameters. I need to make sure that no one gets automatically deleted and think I would prefer to receive unedited error messages directly, immediately from the mail servers. The first will do that for me? But is there something about LISTSERV's added value to error messages which I don't yet see which I need to prevent problems down the road, and therefore should go with the latter which will never auto-delete anything, but if I an right will still send the LISTSERV error reports?

Auto-Delete= No
or
Auto-Delete=Yes, Manual
