Hello All.

This message came to me for approval today, (I'm moderating the
usenet side of my gateway), and it looked soooo familiar. In fact,
I remembered reading it to George the Husband yesterday.

Did a search in the HWY61-L archives and found it, I'd put it through
yesterday.

So, just for kicks - and because I think this might be happening a lot
lately, I put it through again - said "reply" and then "ok" in the body of
the confirmation reply to [log in to unmask]

It went through, and has been a single message and in a digest. So....

Does Listserv overlook the message ID when the moderator manually oks
messages? Does it then look only for the confirmation number to be
one it hasn't seen before, instead of rejecting it based on the fact that
it's seen that message ID # before?

As I said, I think this is happening *a lot* lately. I passed my
75 message limit *twice* last Monday, and yet listserv claims that it
rec'd. 80 or so messages. (!) So I guess that's yet another question:
When I ask listserv to tell me how many messages it has for a given day,
is it actually counting the messages from hwy61-l subscribers, plus
the messages from usenet that *I put through* that day? OR is it counting
the hwy61-l messages *dated* that day, and the usenet messages *dated*
the day that they were sent? (I very often don't get usenet messages for
at least a few days via my gateway - and a week isn't that unusual these
days either ... nor is more than a week.)

This semi-moderation thing has been really helpful to me, except for the
number of messages. I figure that this may have been going on for a while,
since traffic became awfully tough on my list. Doing the moderating, living
a life and all that, I've never had much extra time to chase this down.
It's not every message, but once in a while I just *know* I've seen a
message before. Just kept working my list. So here it is - (and there's a
second one that first came in June 10th, and then came in again today looking
for approval.)

Rhymes with hoop? Scoop? Troop? Why isn't is happening with all messages?
(I'm pretty sure it's happening with more than this one message, but can't
*prove* it to ya today.)

I'm enclosing headers - all of them - having no idea what the smart kids
need to see in order to attempt to help. Sorry if this is too much header
stuff, but truly didn't know what you all'd need to help to make sense
of this.

Here's what came in today:

Knowing that I'd read this to The Worthy George yesterday, I searched and

Yes, it was exactly the same message. So for kicks, I ok'd it. Wanted
to see if it'd go through - if Listserv would accept it. It did, and
here it is in that incarnation.

So there you go - Anybody here that can tell me what's going on?

Again, sorry about the lengthy headers.
This amount of clunky header goo in one message, is likely past the header
goo quota per person, per day.

Can anybody explain?

Getting to me??? What's *THAT* supposed to mean?!?!!?
