Why can't you simply issue 10 SET xxx NOMAIL FOR xxx@xxx commands
instead? Aside from the inevitable emotional reactions that voluntary
mail forging is going to create, sending commands from the subscribers'
accounts is just the wrong way to do it. There are mechanisms in LISTSERV
for letting the subscriber know that he has been added, that his options
have been changed, etc. These mechanisms work with the list owner
commands, not when LISTSERV thinks the commands were issued by the user.
Furthermore your procedures would not work with, say, "Add user" and
closed lists. The user's subscribe request would be forwarded to the list
owner, who would click on "Add user" and get another request to join,
etc. For "Delete user", if command validation is in effect the user may
be requested to confirm his removal and just let the request time out.
I'm sure there are many other cases where it doesn't yield the desired
effect. This is just not the way to implement it.
