John -- it's a good idea to have a set of short, boilerplate ADMIN or
ALL announcements that you send out at least once a week -- and one says
what all the topics are, how to subscribe to them (or unsubscribe), etc.
(Another would list the basic listserv commands and remind them that
listserv is the proper address,  not your list as a whole; another would
perhaps describe basic netiquette.)  I am subbed to a huge list that the
listowner has four boiilerplate messages, rotating one each week so they
all go out once a month, and it really saves a lot of problems on the
list.
